“Tom Perry simply makes the finest gnathologic positioners and centric splints I have ever seen. With his deep understanding of occlusion, he has helped me attain spectacular esthetic and functional results for my patients… Outstanding!!” Dr.Gerald Malovos, D.D.S., Carpinteria, California
“I’m glad one of my friends recommended Tom Perry and his outstanding laboratory service. I had used other labs in the past for tooth positioners and since working with Tom over the past five years, I have never had a problem that he couldn’t resolve. His attention to detail is superb, from his knowledge of functional occlusion to tooth size discrepancies. I have been extremely satisfied with his work. There is no one else who compares.” Alfred J. Maskeroni, D.D.S., National Naval Dental Center, Bethesda, Maryland
Thomas L. Perry
Thomas Perry began setting teeth for positioners in 1963 at Thunderbird Lab. In 1971 he found new employment at Oral Arts lab. From 1977 to 1987, while working with Woodford Gordon, he attended many courses given by Dr.Ronald Roth and Dr.Tom Basta at F.A.C.E., and also learned from the other “greats” IN DENTISTRY WHO LECTURED THERE. These years of courses and discussions with doctors from all over the world combined with over 700,000 wax setups that Tom has personally done, have all contributed to his present understanding of occlusion. He also taught the art of setting teeth at F.A.C.E. He invented the “open flask” method of splint fabrication and has designed and built articulators and lab equipment. He has developed sophistated techniques in tooth setting. In 1987, he opened his own laboratory, Inter-America Lab.
HANDS-ON WORKSHOP
This course will cover preparing and setting teeth for diagnostic and positioned setups. It will also include the fabrication of a positioned. All of These procedures will be done on an articulator in accordance with gnathologic principles. Each participant will provide two cases.
Topics (3days)
· Introduction to tooth setup
· Tooth preparation
· Model preparation
· Tooth setup procedure
· Positioner fabrication
Participants will set their own cases with discussion on each. Focus will be on:
- Finishing cases closer to centric
- Attaining a more stable occlusion
- Reducing relapse of anteriors
- Dealing with tooth size discrepancy
- Determining position of teeth during treatment
- Determining overbite
- Learning the benefits and limitations of tooth positioners
Each participating doctor / lab technician will receive a CDRom describing the diagnostic and tooth positioned setup procedure.
